Volunteering: The Rewards Last a Lifetime

We are a non-profit agency that depends on volunteers at a variety of levels. Our humble beginnings were the brainchild of just a handful of dedicated volunteers who recognized the gap in programming for children from economically disadvantaged homes and were entering kindergarten several steps behind.

Decades later, our volunteer Board of Directors continue to guide the actions and chart the future course of Skip-a-Long with that same degree of compassion and talent. The Board members offer their skills, time and support to the various working sub-committees. Their unique perspectives, blended with our staff knowledge and expertise, result in strategic oversight and oftentimes, hands on project oriented work tasks.

Other volunteer opportunities include:

• Reading and playing with our young children
• Tutoring school age children
• Sewing baby blankets/sheets for cribs
• Helping with outside projects such as playground installation; or landscaping
• Assisting at functions such as Parent Nights, graduation, Summer Fun Days, field trips, or Little Bogeys
• Helping to organize and preserve the Skip-a-Long archives
